Misappearances

Lucinda had to give up her 5 dummies after her 3rd birthday. She used to take them all with her all the time. She says they have misappeared. “They went into mummy’s dressing gown pocket and they misappeared”. For a couple of days she cried at bedtime, missing her dummies and thinking aloud about all the times they would not be there: in the car, going to bed and lying on the couch without the comfort of her dummies. She lies in bed and cries, and calls them back. “Come back, Dummies. Where are you come back now.”

  1. I am very impressed by Lucinda’s knowledge of the meaning of English language prefixes. She can drop by my 8th grade English class any time. I’d like to know how many other Tasma blog readers are reminded — as I am, reading this — of how Ethan’s dummies disappeared, recorded on these very pages just a few moons ago, it seems. Where will Audrey’s dummies go? I can’t help but wonder. Love to you all.

  2. We promise not to tell Lucinda that the emergency dummy in the dresser drawer at our place has not yet “misappeared” – who knows, one day Audrey may need it!
