Lucinda and DAD

After we got back from Adelaide, Lucinda and I went away for our own special holiday, just the 2 of us. We went to Barwon Heads, and had our own cabin fronting right on to the beach. We went out to dinner, and the next day spent hours on the beach by Point Lonsdale, where William Buckley lived for many years.

Nelson 09

We went to Nelson, where Fi & I got to kayak down the Glenelg River for 2 days (thanks for the childcare folks!), then on to Adelaide for a somewhat disastrous tour with the band.

On the second day, as we went down the silent mirrorlike river, we could smell sausages. As we pulled in at Donovans, it turned out we landed in the middle of a Gazebo-commissioning! In my long experience, I can tell you – it’s not every day you happen on a Gazebo commissioning.

It was a perfect, warm morning. So we relocated to the nature strip. Neighbours dropped by. Ethan decided to sell popcorn. His pricepoint was $5 a bag! And each bag had half a pat of butter in it, and half a Lake Eyre of salt. It must be recorded, though. He made a profit.

Princesses and Maids

Princess Lucinda was sitting on my lap this morning, telling me all about how to be a princess.
“I’m very happy you’re a princess because that makes me a Queen”
And Lucinda explains: “mummy every princess has a maid, it can be a he or a she.” “You’re my maid.”
“I don’t want to be the maid, I’d rather be the Queen”
“Well, it can’t be Zac or Dave because they would leave.”

We then had a very educational conversation about the merits of the modern princess who is so clever she can do everything herself…. fell on deaf ears I fear.
