Grade 2: It’s brutal out there

eteeth1
Man, its tough for boys out there in grade 2. In 10 days, Ethan has:
* been in a fist-fight,
* had a door slammed into his face, splitting his lip and loosening teeth (pic),
* been kicked in the eye, with resulting li’l shiner
* had a cut across his throat (he did ask for it – literally asked his friend Max ” can you get that giant branch, and make a scar across my throat?
* skidded & slipped on asphalt, ending up with a 1.5 inch square dressing on his knee.

Poisonous Flower Drill.

Last night we had a fire drill here at Tasma (yeah I know, paranoid) – teaching the kids to get down low and crawl to the front door, and go out to the letterbox if there was a fire. When we finished, Lucinda (4) said “That’s for fire, right? What about the BATS? What about the POISONOUS FLOWERS?”.

We just hadnt covered enough bases for our Lucinda.

Nick’s 45th Birthday!

Thanks so much to Karen & Pete for hosting a perfect party, and to the mighty Hickeys for babysitting, and Dave on Barbie Duty! I couldnt have had a better time. Thanks to everyone who came and especially those who travelled a long way to be there,like John Travis, Steve and Stace! You’re all ace. I dont know how I got to be so lucky, to have such a fine bunch around me, but I feel very thankful.

Thanks to John C for the fine photos!
